The formulas

Processing = (item + shipping + tax) × 3.3% + $0.45
You receive = item + shipping − processing

Worked example

A $35 jacket with $6 shipping and $3.28 tax. It cost you $10 and the label is $5.50.

Processing44.28 × 0.033 + 0.45 = $1.91
You receive41 − 1.91 = $39.09
Profit39.09 − 10 − 5.50 = $23.59

Under the old 10% selling fee, the same sale would have cost another $4.10. If a fee guide or calculator still shows 10% for US sellers, it is out of date.

Pricing on Depop

With no selling fee, shipping is now the biggest cost on cheap items. If you offer free shipping, the label comes out of the price, so put it in the "Your costs" box. The shipping cost calculator shows the price you would need to keep the same profit.

Questions people ask

Does Depop still charge a 10% selling fee?

Not for sellers in the US. Depop removed its selling fee for US sellers on July 15, 2024. Many fee guides still mention 10%, but US sellers now pay only the payment processing fee.

How much does Depop take from a sale?

The payment processing fee: 3.3% + $0.45, charged on the item price, shipping and sales tax. On a $35 item with $6 shipping and no sales tax that is about $1.80.

Does the buyer pay a fee on Depop?

Yes. Since July 2024 buyers in the US pay a marketplace fee on top of the price. It does not come out of your earnings, but it does make your item cost the buyer a little more, which is worth remembering when you compare prices with other platforms.

Is Depop cheaper than Poshmark or Mercari?

For US sellers, usually yes, because there is no selling fee. Run the same item through the Poshmark and Mercari calculators on this site to see the difference for your price.
