The formula

Selling fee = (item price + buyer-paid shipping) × 10%
You receive = item price + buyer-paid shipping − selling fee
Profit = what you receive − label − item cost

Worked example

A $30 sweater, the buyer pays $6.50 shipping, the label costs you $6.50 and the sweater cost you $8.

Selling fee36.50 × 0.10 = $3.65
You receive36.50 − 3.65 = $32.85
Profit32.85 − 6.50 − 8 = $18.35

Under the old fees, a further 2.9% + 50 cents (about $1.56 here) would also have come off. If a Mercari calculator still adds that to a new listing, it is out of date.

Free shipping or buyer pays?

Free shipping makes a listing look cheaper at a glance, but the label then comes out of your price. Try both in the calculator: set "Shipping the buyer pays" to 0 and raise the item price until the profit matches. That is the price your free-shipping listing needs. The Poshmark and Depop calculators help if you list in several places.

Questions people ask

What are Mercari's fees in 2026?

A 10% selling fee on the item price plus any shipping the buyer pays. Since January 6, 2025 there is no separate payment processing fee on new or updated listings. Guides that still add 2.9% + 50 cents are describing the old fee.

Do I still pay the processing fee on old listings?

Only on listings created before January 6, 2025 that have not been updated since. Editing such a listing moves it to the current fees.

Does Mercari charge a fee on shipping?

Yes, when the buyer pays for shipping, the 10% applies to the item price plus that shipping. If you offer free shipping, the fee is on the item price and the label comes out of your earnings.

How do I get paid, and does it cost anything?

A direct deposit to your bank is free. Instant Pay costs $3.00 each time you use it.
