Where the rates come from. Etsy: etsy.com/sell, checked October 9, 2026. Every rate is filled in for you but can be changed, in case your account is on a different deal.

How Etsy's fees are worked out

Transaction = 6.5% × (item + shipping)
Processing = 3% × (item + shipping + tax) + $0.25
Offsite Ads = rate × (item + shipping), max $100
You receive = item + shipping − all fees

Sales tax goes to the state, not to you, so it is left out of what you receive. It still counts towards the processing fee.

Worked example

A $30 print with $5 shipping charged, no sales tax, not from an ad. It costs you $9 to make and$4.50 to post.

Listing fee$0.20
Transaction fee35 × 0.065 = $2.28
Processing35 × 0.03 + 0.25 = $1.30
Total fees$3.78, 10.8% of the $35 sale
You receive35 − 3.78 = $31.22
Profit31.22 − 9 − 4.50 = $17.72

If the same sale had come through Offsite Ads at 15%, another$5.25 would go to Etsy and profit would drop to$12.47. That is why it is worth knowing which sales came from ads.

Where Etsy sellers lose money without noticing

Free shipping

Etsy pushes free shipping in search. If you offer it, the label comes out of your price, and the fees are now charged on a higher item price. Put your real label cost in the "Your costs" box.

Etsy Ads, not just Offsite Ads

Etsy Ads (the ones inside Etsy search) are billed separately as a daily budget and are not in this calculator. Divide a month's Etsy Ads spend by that month's orders and add it to your item cost to include it.

Currency conversion

If your listings are in a different currency from your payment account, Etsy charges a conversion fee as well. US sellers listing in US dollars do not pay it.

Questions people ask

What fees does Etsy charge on a sale?

For a US seller using Etsy Payments: a $0.20 listing fee, a 6.5% transaction fee on the item price plus what the buyer paid for shipping and gift wrap, and a payment processing fee of 3% + $0.25 on the order total. If the sale came through Offsite Ads, there is an advertising fee on top.

Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?

Yes. The 6.5% transaction fee and the processing fee both include the shipping the buyer pays. Raising shipping to keep the item price low does not avoid the fees.

How do Offsite Ads fees work?

If a buyer clicks an Etsy ad on another site and buys within the attribution window, Etsy charges an advertising fee on that order: 15% for shops that made under $10,000 in the past 12 months (they can opt out), or 12% for shops above that (they cannot). The fee is capped at $100 per order. You only pay it on sales the ads brought in.

Is the listing fee charged again when an item sells?

Yes, for listings with more than one in stock. When one sells, Etsy renews the listing for the next one and charges the listing fee again. If the buyer buys several of the same item in one order, there is a listing fee for each extra one.
