Where the rates come from. TikTok Shop: seller-us.tiktok.com/university/essay?knowledge_id=5982454398175018, checked October 12, 2026. TikTok's page says 6%; 8% from August 2026 is reported by seller sites but not confirmed on a TikTok page. Every rate is filled in for you but can be changed, in case your account is on a different deal.

The formulas

Referral fee = (price + shipping) × referral rate
Affiliate commission = price × commission rate
Profit = price + shipping − referral − commission − product − label

Worked example

A $25 phone grip with free shipping, sold through a creator on 15% commission. It costs you $7 and the label is $4.50.

Referral fee at 8%25 × 0.08 = $2.00
Affiliate commission25 × 0.15 = $3.75
Profit25 − 2.00 − 3.75 − 7 − 4.50 = $7.75 (31%)

The two-point difference in the referral fee is 50 cents here. The affiliate commission costs nearly twice as much as TikTok's fee, which is why commission rates matter more than the fee change for most shops selling through creators.

Setting affiliate commission

Creators choose products partly on commission, so a higher rate can bring more videos. Work out the most you can offer first: the commission at which profit reaches the minimum you are happy with. The target CPA calculator uses the same idea for ads.

Questions people ask

What is the TikTok Shop fee in 2026?

TikTok's own fee page (from April 2024) gives a 6% referral fee per order for most categories. Several seller sites report that TikTok raised it to 8% for most categories from August 2026, but we could not find that on a TikTok page. The calculator starts at 8% to be safe. Check the fee shown in your Seller Center and change the rate if yours differs.

What is the referral fee charged on?

On what the customer pays, including shipping, plus any discount TikTok funded, minus sales tax. Seller-funded discounts lower the amount the fee is charged on.

Do affiliate commissions come on top?

Yes. If a creator sells your product through the affiliate program, you pay the commission rate you set, on top of TikTok's referral fee. For many shops, affiliate commission is the bigger of the two.

Is there a fee when a customer is refunded?

TikTok keeps a refund administration fee of 20% of the referral fee, up to $5 per item, when an order is refunded.
